Moore Public Schools Clarifies Stance on Bible Mandated Curriculum

by Mia

MOORE, OKLAHOMA — Moore Public Schools (MPS) has addressed the recent directive from State Superintendent Ryan Walters requiring the inclusion of the Bible in school curricula. In a communication to parents, MPS underscored its commitment to adhering strictly to educational standards while addressing religious content.

The school district emphasized that while students will study the role of religion in historical and cultural contexts, the teaching of specific religious doctrines or practices is not part of the current curriculum standards. This stance aligns with the Oklahoma State Academic Standards (OSAS), which MPS has followed since their introduction in 2019.

Under the OSAS framework, students are educated on how various religions have influenced historical events, cultures, traditions, and societal norms. MPS assured parents that this approach aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of the role of religion in shaping global history and societal development.
