MARQUETTE, Mich. — Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marquette is embarking on a week-long journey to strengthen children’s spiritual foundations.
The church is currently hosting its annual Vacation Bible School (VBS), a beloved tradition that draws in approximately 253 enthusiastic participants daily. From engaging in games to crafting artworks, singing worship melodies, and delving into biblical teachings, the young attendees are immersed in a vibrant program designed to deepen their connection with faith. This year’s theme, “Scuba: Diving into Friendship with God,” underscores the exploration of spiritual bonds in a joyful and supportive environment.
Anna Gemar, Director of Christian Education and VBS at Redeemer Lutheran Church, highlighted the enduring legacy of the program, noting its multigenerational impact. “I’ve got people in the building whose mothers and grandmothers helped with VBS here at Redeemer in the last 30 years or more,” Gemar shared. “It’s kind of cute to see the legacies and see these kids having fun just knowing God loves them and they’re in a safe, fun, exciting environment to learn that.”
For parents interested in joining the initiative, Redeemer warmly welcomes walk-ins and late additions, extending enrollment opportunities for Thursday and Friday.
The VBS at Redeemer Lutheran Church not only nurtures a sense of community among its participants but also provides a nurturing space where children can flourish in their understanding of faith.
