The Request of the Tribes of Reuben and Gad
As the Israelites approach the Promised Land, the tribes of Reuben and Gad notice the land on the east side of the Jordan River. It is fertile and suitable for their large herds of cattle. They come to Moses and ask if they can settle there instead of crossing the Jordan River to claim the land on the west side, which God had promised to the whole nation of Israel.
