Initially, Balaam asked God for direction, and God told him not to go with Balak’s messengers and not to curse Israel because they were blessed (Numbers 22:12). When Balak sent more honorable men with greater rewards, Balaam asked God again. This time, God allowed him to go but with one condition—he could only say what God commanded (Numbers 22:20).

Balaam could not see the angel, but his donkey could. This teaches us that when our hearts are not right, we can become spiritually blind.
If we find ourselves ignoring God’s Word, resisting correction, or making excuses for disobedience, it may be a sign that we are spiritually blind. The solution is to humble ourselves before God and ask Him to open our eyes.
5. God’s Discipline is a Sign of His Love
Even though God was angry with Balaam, He did not destroy him. Instead, He sent the angel as a warning. This shows that God disciplines those He loves.
When we face God’s correction, we should not resist it. Instead, we should be thankful that He cares enough to guide us back to the right path.

Balaam was traveling with his servants. His choices did not only affect him—they also influenced those around him.
