4. If any man from Aaron’s descendants has a skin disease or a discharge, he must not eat the sacred offerings until he is clean. Whoever touches anything made unclean by a corpse or has a seminal emission,

5. or whoever touches any swarming creature that makes him unclean or any person who makes him unclean—whatever the uncleanness—

6. the one who touches any such thing will be unclean until evening and must not eat the sacred offerings unless he has bathed his body in water.

7. When the sun has set, he will be clean, and then he may eat the sacred offerings, for they are his food.

8. He must not eat anything found dead or mauled by wild animals, and so become unclean by it. I am the LORD.

9. They must keep My instruction, so that they will not bear sin because of it and die for treating it with contempt. I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

10. No outsider may eat the sacred offering, neither a temporary resident nor a hired hand.

11. But if a priest purchases a slave with his own money, or if a slave is born in his household, that slave may eat his food.

12. If a priest’s daughter marries a layman, she is not to eat the sacred contributions.

13. But if a priest’s daughter becomes widowed or divorced and has no children and returns to her father’s house as in her youth, she may share in her father’s food. No outsider, however, may share in it.

14. If anyone eats a sacred offering unintentionally, he must add a fifth to its value and give the sacred offering to the priest.

15. The priests must not profane the sacred offerings the Israelites present to the LORD

16. by allowing the people to eat their sacred offerings and thus bring upon them guilt requiring a guilt offering. I am the LORD who sanctifies them.’”

Worthy Offerings

17. The LORD said to Moses,

18. “Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites and tell them: If any man of the house of Israel or any foreign resident living among them brings an offering, whether the offering is a burnt offering or a sacrifice,

19. and does not bring it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to sacrifice it to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his people.

20. Any man who eats a sacred offering unintentionally must make restitution to the LORD by bringing a ram without defect from the flock, of a value equal to the sacred offering. Such restitution is to be made in addition to the sacred offering he has unintentionally eaten.

21. He must make restitution for the sacred offering he has defiled and add a fifth to its value. He must give it all to the priest, who will make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and he will be forgiven.

22. If a priest’s daughter defiles herself by promiscuity, she defiles her father; she must be burned in the fire.

23. If a priest’s daughter marries a layman or someone from another tribe of Israel, she may no longer eat the sacred offerings.

24. But if a priest’s daughter becomes a widow or is divorced, has no children, and returns to her father’s house as in her youth, she may share in her father’s food. But no outsider may share in it.

25. If anyone presents a sacrificial animal from the LORD’s herd or flock as a peace offering, but it is defective or has a flaw, it will be unacceptable.

26. You must not present any animal to the LORD that is blind, injured, maimed, or has a running sore, festering rash, or scabs. You must not put any of these on the altar as a fire offering to the LORD.

27. You may sacrifice a bull or a lamb that has a limb too long or too short for its requirements, but it may be offered as a freewill offering, rather than for a vow.

28. You must not present anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf.

29. When you sacrifice a thank offering to the LORD, you must sacrifice it in a way that is acceptable.

30. It must be eaten on the same day; leave none of it until morning. I am the LORD.

31. You must keep My commandments and do them; I am the LORD.

32. You must not profane My holy name; I must be treated as holy among the Israelites. I am the LORD who sanctifies you,

33. who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God; I am the LORD.”
