A Collaborative Initiative
For the first time, the “Conference of European Rabbis” and the Jewish Agency are hosting the European Bible Quiz. This exciting event will feature hundreds of Jewish students, aged 14 to 18, from schools across Europe.
Finals to Crown the European Bible Champion
The quiz finals will showcase 50 contestants in a public competition, scheduled for Tevet 5785. The top participant will be crowned the European Bible Champion. Additionally, the winners will earn the chance to compete in the International Bible Quiz held in Jerusalem.
Promoting Cultural Connection
The event will be judged by notable figures, including Rabbi Avichai Apel, Chair of Germany’s Rabbis and Vice President of the Conference. Rabbi Apel highlighted the significance of making the Bible accessible to European Jewish youth, calling it “the foundation of Jewish and human culture.”
Gadi Gronich, Chief of Staff for the Conference President, added that this quiz serves as a tool to strengthen spiritual resilience among youth, especially during challenging times.
Expansion of Participation
Rabbi Amir Ostashinsky, the project head, mentioned that in previous years, the quiz was limited to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. However, this year, it will include participants from all European countries. Local rabbis and educators will select representatives from each nation to compete.
Venue and Attendance
The finals will take place at the “Ohel Yaakov” Synagogue in Munich. The event will be attended by government officials and the Mayor of Munich, Dieter Reiter, highlighting the event’s significance.
