Congregation Mourns and Celebrates Life of Founder
Members of the Rhema Bible Church gathered on October 10 to mourn and celebrate the life of Pastor Ray McCauley, the founder of Rhema Church South Africa and a respected evangelical leader. The comfort service marked the first in a series of events honoring Pastor McCauley, who passed away recently.
Potential for Larger Venues
Pastor Joshua McCauley, Ray’s son, mentioned that the church is considering larger venues for future services. This may include stadiums and auditoriums to accommodate the many followers of the late pastor.
Reflection on a Final Moment
Pastor Joshua shared a heartfelt moment reflecting on his father’s passing. He recounted receiving a phone call from his father’s wife, Zelda, who informed him that Pastor McCauley was not feeling well. He stated, “We got to the house within a couple of minutes. We walked into the room, and Zelda was praying for my dad.”
Joshua recalled the poignant moment when his father looked at him, breathed a few times, and then bowed his head before peacefully falling asleep. “I was holding his hand and I said to myself, there is no pulse, and he looked like he fell asleep. He passed peacefully surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and wife,” he added.
Upcoming Memorial Services
To further honor Pastor McCauley, an honoring service will take place on October 17, followed by his funeral service on October 19. Both events will be held at Rhema Bible Church, which has a capacity of 7,500 seats and will be open to invited guests.
The services will also be live-streamed on the church’s YouTube platforms, allowing many to participate in honoring the beloved pastor.
