The 5th Annual Bible Reading Marathon kicked off Wednesday morning on the front lawn of College Park Methodist Church in Meridian. The event will run for about four days, offering continuous public reading of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
A Community-Wide Event
Participants from various denominations and congregations are coming together to read God’s Word aloud in a shared effort. The reading is open to the public, allowing community members to listen, pray, and reflect on the Bible’s message.
Under a tent on the church’s grounds, attendees gather to listen, read, and pray, with the hope that the Bible’s teachings will have a profound impact on individuals and the local community.
A Journey Through Scripture
“It’s raining, but God’s Word is still being read here under this tent,” said Paul Raley, one of the event organizers. “We began at 9 a.m. with Genesis 1:1, and right now we’re about two-thirds of the way through the book of Genesis. We aim to finish by Saturday afternoon around 5 or 6 p.m. with the last chapter of Revelation.”
The marathon reading is expected to conclude over the weekend, with readers continuing their journey through scripture, covering every book from Genesis to Revelation over the course of the event.
