Cedarville University is making high-quality biblical education accessible to everyone through its Bible Minor Project. For over seven decades, Cedarville graduates have completed a Bible minor as part of their education. Now, this valuable resource is available free of charge to parents, school groups, and churches.
Overview of the Bible Minor Project
The Bible Minor Project provides access to Cedarville’s five core Bible minor courses. These include:
- Bible and the Gospel
- Old and New Testament Literature
- Theology I
- Theology II
The first course, Bible and the Gospel, focuses on interpreting the Bible accurately. The remaining courses explore the Old and New Testaments and cover fundamental theological topics such as God, creation, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, sin, and salvation.
Course Details and Faculty
Each course is delivered online by Cedarville’s School of Biblical and Theological Studies faculty. The instructors include:
Dr. Trent Rogers: Dean of the School of Biblical and Theological Studies and Associate Professor of New Testament and Greek. Dr. Rogers teaches the Bible and the Gospel course.
Dr. Chris Miller: Senior Professor of Biblical Studies, who instructs the Old Testament course.
Dr. Michael McKay: Director of the Online Master’s Programs and Associate Professor of Biblical Theology, responsible for the New Testament course.
Dr. Jeremy Kimble: Professor of Theology and Director of the Synergy Initiative, who teaches the Theology I and II courses.
These professors bring nearly 90 years of combined teaching experience to the project.
What to Expect
Dr. Rogers emphasizes that participants can anticipate clear biblical teaching aimed at shaping their understanding of God and the world. The courses are designed to encourage practical application of biblical principles in personal lives, families, churches, and careers.
Although the courses are at a college level, they do not offer college credit. Instead, they challenge participants to delve deeper into Scripture and engage critically with theological topics.
Impact and Accessibility
The Bible Minor Project is designed to help individuals and groups engage with Scripture and participate in discussions similar to those experienced by Cedarville students. The initiative aims to support both current and prospective Cedarville parents by allowing them to understand and discuss the Bible content their students are studying.
The project reflects Cedarville University’s commitment to serving the community and fostering a biblical worldview among its students and beyond.
